29 February 2024

PT FWD Insurance Indonesia (“FWD Insurance”) collaborates with Prestasi Junior Indonesia (“PJI”) to commence the second-year implementation of JA SparktheDream, a financial literacy education programme empowering young generations with knowledge and skills in personal financial management to navigate their future financial well-being. This programme will benefit 2,000 students from 11 junior high schools in Jakarta, Depok, South Tangerang, Bandung, Cimahi, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo by end of 2024.

Rudy F. Manik, Chief Human Resources & Marketing Officer FWD Insurance, said, “We are committed to fostering substantial positive changes within the community. Following last year's successful inaugural implementation, we are thrilled to extend the reach of JA SparktheDream programme to seven cities across Indonesia and engage with even thousands more of students this year. We aspire that the enhanced financial skills gained through students' participation in this programme will equip them to make sound financial decisions at every life stage, facilitating their journey towards sustainable financial well-being. This endeavor is also in line with the Indonesian Government's efforts to foster greater financial literacy and inclusion among communities, ensuring a more widespread and equitable impact.”

Robert Gardiner, Academic Advisor and Operations Counsel of Prestasi Junior Indonesia (PJI), said, “Financial services are rapidly evolving and becoming more accessible to the younger generation. Through the JA SparktheDream programme, students will augment their knowledge and skills in personal financial management through fundamental concepts such as earning, budgeting, saving, spending, and risk management. Armed with this framework, they are anticipated to cultivate prudent financial habits early on, exhibit astuteness in utilizing diverse financial services, and ultimately unlock boundless financial potential in the future.”

The JA SparktheDream programme provides holistic financial literacy education through four classroom learning sessions covering three main aspects: financial awareness, financial capability, and economic and social inclusion. Delivered by PJI instructors and FWD Insurance’s volunteers, this multi-year initiative offers an engaging learning experience by integrating captivating classroom activities and modules, interactive online learning platforms, and at-home activities with families. At the culmination of the learning sessions, students collaborate in teams to devise social innovation ideas that advocate for the significance of financial well-being and foster positive societal change. By end of this year, JA SparktheDream aims to benefit around 25,000 students and thousands more of their peers across seven markets in Asia, including Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
