Generation Z, those born between 1997-2012, are currently in a time where funds can be easily accessed with the presence of digital services from financial institutions such as insurance, e-wallets, digital banks, and online loans. This ease of access needs to be balanced with an understanding of financial planning so that the younger generation can live the present and face a future full of challenges. Generation Z is also fluent in using gadgets, including social media.
Realising this, PT FWD Insurance Indonesia ("FWD Insurance"), as a customer-led digitally enabled life insurance company in Indonesia, reaffirms its commitment to improving the financial literacy of the younger generation through the "FWD Day" program held at Diponegoro University Semarang, to help Generation Z to utilise social media platform to empower them, both for personal branding and career preparation.
2025 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) revealed that the financial literacy index reached 66.46 percent. This is an increase compared to the 2024 SNLIK which showed a financial literacy index of 65.43 percent. FWD Insurance presents FWD Day as an effort to support the program to improve financial literacy, especially for students.
FWD Day presented with the topic about introduction to the life insurance industry, essential financial planning knowledge, and personal empowerment through personal branding that can improve the quality of students as the younger generation.
Rudy F. Manik as the Chief Human Resources and Marketing Officer of FWD Insurance said, "FWD Insurance sees the great potential of students as a productive population. Through FWD Day, we want to be present among them so that they can improve their personal quality, make smart financial decisions, being economically independent, and ready to face future challenges. This is our goal in FWD Day at Diponegoro University, as part of our efforts to realise the vision of changing the way people feel about insurance."
In its implementation, FWD Day is presented in an interesting and interactive format for students. Starting from the Ztart Up Talk talk show session which discusses about building strong personal branding, the basics of financial management, investment, including insurance, and career opportunities in the life insurance industry, presented by experienced speakers.
"We hope that through the FWD Day program, students can be more confident in realising their aspirations and passions, in line with the spirit of Play My Way that we brought in ths year. We want to be a part of the unique life journey of students, which will be a strength in the future," Rudy concluded.
