Alodokter and FWD Insurance Collaborate to Improve Access to Health Consultation

06 February 2023

The new normal era after the pandemic has formed new habits among Indonesians, especially in terms of health, where Indonesian people are now more health-conscious than ever before. The mindset of the Indonesian people are also now more open to financial planning, especially to prepare for unforeseen circumstances, be it for health or other matters. This has led industry players to provide more services and offerings to the Indonesian people, including telemedicine and health insurance.

According to the Indonesian General Insurance Association (AAUI), premium income in the health insurance sector has increased 12.6% in the 3rd quarter of 2022 with total amount of Rp4.6 trillion, compared to the same period in 2021. In the same quarter, paid claims is also increased 44% compared to previous year with total amount Rp3.8 trilion.

This condition indicates that health protection is still very much needed even though the Government has announced to the public that public activity restriction (PPKM) has ended, but the need for health protection is still needed by the general public, such as easier access to healthcare services with proper treatment that can be accessed anytime and anywhere.

Therefore, in early 2023, Alodokter as a healthcare platform with easy and fast access in Indonesia and PT FWD Insurance Indonesia (“FWD Insurance”), as a customer-led, digital-enabled insurance company in Indonesia, established an innovative strategic partnership to improve the quality of health protection that will be used by FWD Insurance customers.

The partnership integrates API (application programming interface) of Alodokter’s feature in FWD MAX mobile application so that FWD Insurance’s customers can make doctor appointments (both general and specialist doctors) in selected hospitals in Indonesia directly within the application. This feature also allows customers to get information about doctors’ schedules and availability at certain hospitals and clinics. Customers can then consult with their preferred doctor.

“Through this collaboration, FWD Insurance customers can easily schedule face-to-face appointments with doctors at the preferred hospital and check health care history with hospitals and doctors they have visited with greater ease, anytime and anywhere.”, said Suci Arumsarias Co-Founder and President Director of Alodokter.

Through FWD MAX mobile application, FWD Insurance customers will be facilitated by the Alodokter network that has various collaborations with health clinics and hospitals in Indonesia, such as Siloam Hospital, Mayapada Hospital, Pertamedika Hospital Group, Mitra Keluarga Hospital, Awal Bros Hospital, and many more. Additionally, Alodokter also has various networks of doctors through its application which has more than 80,000 doctors who have joined and are ready to provide the best service for the patients, both from telemedicine as well as face-to-face consultation.

Rudy Franto Manik, Chief HR & Marketing Officer FWD Insurance said, “The partnership with Alodokter through our app, FWD MAX, demonstrates our commitment to expand insurance reach and access, as well as provide convenience for our customers in conducting health consultations anytime and anywhere. Importantly, this partnership contributes to our vision of changing the way people feel about insurance.”
