INDONESIA, 28 April 2018 – The FWD Team Asia, a group of 11 sponsored runners from across the region, achieved outstanding results in the world’s coolest marathon – the FWD North Pole Marathon® 2018. Today, Fedi Fianto shares his success story as the first Indonesian runner who joined and finished strong at FWD North Pole Marathon® 2018 with 7:48:19 record time. Fedi Fianto is an Indonesian runner who has extensive experience in participating in endurance sports, from marathons, triathlons, obstacle racing, as well as extreme sports from rock climbing to mountaineering with his achievement in conquering Mount Ama Dablam in Nepal with temperature -40 Celsius degrees.
The world’s coolest marathon took place on 16 April, starting at 10.00 p.m. local time, which saw over 47 from across 20 countries enduring temperatures averaging -33 Degree Celcius.
Tim Oliver, FWD Group Chief Commercial Officer said, “It is really inspiring to see such a diverse group of runners from Asia undertake this extreme challenge to raise funds for people with disability and demonstrate people with and without disabilities can overcome adversity and embrace the challenges in their lives. Not only did the team complete the marathon, they competed with spirit, from running after long-distance travel, to braving subzero temperatures on uneven ice terrain while wearing multiple layers of clothing. Our belief at FWD is that everyone should have the confidence to pursue their passions and this year’s race shows that if you have desire and the platform to succeed, you can create a future with a difference.
