FWD Life Holds #BebasBerbagi Community Meet-up to Educate Entrepreneurs in Financial Management

Empowering people to transform their passion into a sustainable business

JAKARTA, September 19, 2015 – Life insurance company, PT FWD Life Indonesia (“FWD Life”) continues its commitment to improve financial literacy in Indonesia by presenting #BebasBerbagi community meet-up. In line with the 2015 Blueprint of National Strategy on Financial Literacy in Indonesia, the #BebasBerbagi community meet-up will focus in providing education on the importance of financial and business management, targeting young entrepreneurs and small-medium business-owners.

Rudi Kamdani, President Director FWD Life, stated “As a player in the finance industry, FWD Life has pledged to support the government in building a financially-literate community. We are educating bright sparks in the community to pursue their passion and transform it into sustainable business that positively contributes to the Indonesian economy,” explained Rudi in Jakarta (19/09).

Part of the company’s “Unstoppable Indonesia” movement, #BebasBerbagi will support Indonesian entrepreneurs by providing practical guidelines to build strong and sustainable business fundamentals and finances, as well as  providing the resources about available financial institutions to support them to further develop their passion-based businesses (Passionpreneur). #BebasBerbagi community meet-up is also provide an opportunity for Passionpreneurs to meet with a number of potential investors such as Indra Cahya Uno, Commisioner of PT Seratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk; Dolly Lesmana, CEO and founder of Arka Media Group; and Prabu Revolusi, Owner of Steakology and Prabu Coffee.

Paul Kartono, Director & Chief Financial Officer FWD Life, explained, “One of the reasons why we focus on young entrepreneurs and small-medium business-owners is because we see them having significant role in contributing to the development of the Indonesian economy. Based on the data from Central Statistics Bureau (BPS): Indonesia Population Projection 2010-2015, Indonesia’s population is one of the youngest in the world with about half of Indonesians under the age of 30 and 29% of the total population is under 15 years old.”

#BebasBerbagi community meet-up is the second of its kind by FWD Life. The first activity worked with one of the largest moms communities in Indonesia to support young mothers who wish to develop their businesses. FWD Life has partnered with DreamLab Indonesia, a startup business strategy consultancy delivering practical business development materials. FWD Life also engaged several inspiring and influential speakers such as Dedy Dahlan, Founder of Passionpreneur Academy; Yukka Harlada, CEO Brodo Footware; Leonora Adelia, Founder of Travas Life and the winner of FWD Life Passionpreneur.

Passionpreneur Workshops

Prior to the #BebasBerbagi community meet-up, FWD Life conducted a virtual workshop for the passion-based entrepreneurs by providing series of online classes at FWD Life’s microsite bebaskanlangkah.com/bebasberbagi. The initiative gathered more than 3,500 participants and 1,399 business idea proposals. FWD Life has worked with DreamLab to select six best proposals based on the value of innovation, originality and sustainability. The six selected passionpreneurs had the opportunity to share their proposals with investors and communities at the #BebasBerbagi community meet-up. During the meet-up, FWD Life also educated on the importance of financial and business management.

Launch of Co-Working Space for Passionpreneur

FWD Life then launched a co-working space as yet another initiative to further support Indonesian entrepreneurs. The co-working place is located in FWD Life Room AAJI Building, 2nd Fl. Jl. Talang Betutu No. 17, Kebon Melati Tanah Abang Jakarta. “We hope that through the FWD Life Co-Working Space we can help all individuals to pursue their passions and contribute to the country’s economic development," concluded Paul.
